I'm wondering...are the threads linked, so that a post on one (only on the two boards here that are duplicated on the external forums) is automatically made on the other? I noticed that all the posts here seemed to be copied from there. (I actually first noticed that the forums here were set up when my account page showed that I'd made some posts here, so I checked it out--I got in by navigating back to the thread from the list of posts that I've made.)
Oh, and by the way, do you plan to put a link to these internal forums on the main page? Are they going to replace the external forums, or just supplement them?

No. TJM copied all of the posts from the other forums to here. Prior to these forums opening as the official ones for this project and the old forums being locked, he'll copy the final ones from there to here.

The link on the front page will change as soon as the server software is stable enough that we don't run into all kinds of errors and other problems. We've been testing here for a couple of days now, today's revision is the most stable we've seen in days. Fingers crossed.
If all goes to plan, I think TJM wants to open these forums tomorrow (Monday).

Oh, and by the way: Are the old forums going to be left up in case the system goes down (so that everyone isn't left in the lurch if something breaks)? Maybe there could be a link on the home page that says something like "External Forums (use if the main server is down)"?

They are going to be left up anyway. They don't live on the Enigma project server, but are really external. Yet as far as I know, they will be locked once these forums take over.
Maybe there could be a link on the home page that says something like "External Forums (use if the main server is down)"?
I like the idea. But then there's still two forums at all times. Which isn't really productive when it comes to people asking questions in one centralized place.
I'll take it up with TJM though.

You might want to reconsider. I put a 233 MHz Pentium Mobile MMX on the project AS A GAG.
The smallest work unit took 45,556 seconds, while my AMD Phenom (which is OC'ed and code optimized) is only 1,100 seconds for the same workunit.
Do as you like, but you might be wasting your time (and electricity) on hardware that is THAT old.....(I see you have a 166MHz Pentium churning away, that's why I'm concerned)
