Linux (Unbuntu, Mint) really should have a plain old CPU only application! ...

It need only be 32 bit, but I suspect the GPU Test version for Linux is 32 bit only.

Due to the nature of the computing done, a 24 bit CPU (well the memory addressing aspect -- the instructions could be 8 bits ...) could do this with not much more complexity than the M68000 but with multiple cores (like 4 of them etc).

YES! I agree, one reason I had to stop running Enigma (apart from the electricity) is that I don't have any GPU machines anymore, nor do I have any decent spec windows machines. A CPU linux app would be great.
