1/18/2011 1:28:01 PM Enigma@Home Message from server: Enigma 0.76b _("is not available for") Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU.

Odd because I've been doing these all along, and suddenly the server is saying I can't? I'm on Win Vista if it matters.

Just looked and I am currently working on a 0.76b 5.26 WU... pldrv48-1_0_13698108_1059_0 to be precise. So is it a bug serverside or clientside? :)

I've been getting the same message. Admittedly I was using a Windows 98 computer, but the message did strike me as odd.

Wow, can you still use win98 ?. I have an old machine which I might try it on. Its still running win98. Also any idea if NT4 will still work. Very good for using the old hardware. isa slots etc.

I have ran Enigma on '98 in the past, but recently the error message makes me think it may no longer work.

I may be mistaken, but I think you're all misunderstanding the error. It says that Enigma 0.76b is not available for Microsoft Windows - 98 OR LATER - and since I'm running Vista, and getting the error, and still receiving and processing 0.76B workunits - I think the error is in error. Or something like that.

I received a similar error message on a 64-bit linux machine a week or so ago, but it said something like Enigma ("is not available for") 64bit on an Intel x86 compatible CPU.

Odd, because like you, the server was still sending work, and results were coming back valid, so I ignored it.

My initial suspicion is that like the "too late to validate" errors, we're seeing a ghost in the shell.

Same here. I am running an iMac and a Windows 7 64-bit system with the same error messages for each respectively. However, in that, I leave and return after some hours to find I am receiving new work from the server. Strange error, but I believe all systems listed "not available for" are effected, but not outdated or otherwise useless in the grand scheme of things :)

I agree with the ghost in the shell theory.

I've been receiving the same message, with the exception that it's Linux instead of Windows, just before the server sends me a batch of new work units. If I was still in Hawaii, I'd blame it on the Menehunes. :)

I've started getting "Enigma@Home Message from server: Enigma 0.76b _("is not available for") Linux running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU."

This is on a Debian Stable machine that is on x86_64 and a machine that has worked previously and has not had any major changes other than the standard security patches. I do not receive this error for the other projects that I am attached to.

Edit:
I'm getting this on winxp as well "Enigma@Home Message from server: Enigma 0.76b _("is not available for") Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU."

It looks like 32/64 windows 2003 and newer are working fine for me. It also looks like 32-bit linux works fine. It also appears that 64-bit Intel Xeons on linux are not having the problem.

Something very odd with the application plan?

Ah, the server gives me the error and I do not get any WUs. When the WUs I had ran out that was it.

Apparently I have been too focused on the project that I'm working on because I went through backups and found the first instance of the error to be 10-Jan-2011 15:59:39 (CST.) The linux client hasn't changed in some time on the application page. Server upgrades or config changes?
