The third Enigma message from Stefan Krah´s M4 Project (the last from the Ralph Erskine messages) was broken. See http://enigma.hoerenberg.com/ for more details.

Are there any more unbroken codes from that time period we could have a go at? There must be some messages from the Japanese navy that were never decoded, I would have thought.

I hope the project will go on! It is the only real M4 hillclimbing project with enough cpu power to break the M4. (ciphertext only attack)

This project didn't break the message, which is probably why not much detail about the break is published here.

A link to the project which *did* break it - using a Bombe simulator and manually-written cribs and some major research into possible plaintexts - is right at the top of this thread. You'll need to look under the "Rasch message".
