Hi, I'm getting a Pi soon, and I was wondering if engima has apps for the pi - I would love to do work for it, but all of my current cores are taken up by other projects, but Enigma is a very worthy project, so I hope there is an app of the Pi - please let me know if there is,

There is a version of BOINC compiled for ARM in the raspian repos. You can join the Enigma project as normal. I'm not sure the Pi will be that efficient though. I haven't tried the latest B+ Pi, but my phone was quicker than the first generation Pis by quite a long way.

There is an app for Raspberry, but it's slow. Running 24/7 it can go through up to 3-4 workunits/day with average credits/day 90-120 (depends on CPU clock).

Hi, guys - thanks - you were both correct :) - the Pi DOES run BOINC easily, but I have done 13.313% of a WU in bob on an hour, so although the credits are few and far between, I am gonna keep going with it, to help enigma out :D

Hello folks,

I was running Enigma on in Pi 2 without problems (standard Raspbian Wheezy installation with Boinc 7.0). Because Boinc 7.0 does not recognize the NEON support in the ARMv7 present in the Pi 2, I decided to compile Boinc 7.2 so I could take advantage of the NEON support.
I followed instructions on how to build Boinc from a post over on Einstein@home:

http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_thread.php?id=11209&nowrap=true#139439

This works fine for all other projects I am running, but now I am getting download errors here on Enigma@home:

Sat 25 Jul 2015 16:13:06 UTC | Enigma@Home | Giving up on download of wrapper_5.33_armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf: permanent HTTP error
Sat 25 Jul 2015 16:13:06 UTC | Enigma@Home | Giving up on download of enigma_5.33_armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf: permanent HTTP error

Any suggestions how I can fix this ?

Thanks,

Tom

Looks like the problem was solved automatically after a number of failed downloads. The boinc project directory now contains a two empty files:

-rw-r--r-- 1 boinc boinc 0 Jul 25 16:32 enigma_5.33_armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf
-rw-r--r-- 1 boinc boinc 0 Jul 25 16:32 wrapper_5.33_armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf

I do not really understand this, but things seem to be working again.

I'm experiencing the exact same error on a Banana Pro (armv7)

It doesn't fix itself...

It is not the case that the BOINC manager needs to see the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 2's ARM Cortex-A7 with its ARMv7 architecture, it is the very Engima application itself that needs to do that in order to speed up things.
BOINC 7.3 does see the NEON capabilities (and other helpful extensions of the ARM instruction set as well) of the various ARMv7 and ARMv8 SOCs, yet the Enigma ARM application makes no use of it.
