The entire user base is trying to do the same thing at the same time?

I have a number of ARM chips that got work. Some got a good deal, some got just a few. One intel chip got some work. All using the standard app. I did see one of the ARMs download new apps.

Or perhaps you are using the anonymous system to run an optimized app and the new system can't deal with that?

Message 4603 - Posted: 1 May 2017, 4:05:06 UTC - in response to Message 4600.

I see on the server status that there is work. However, every time I try to fetch work I get a "communication deferred" message and it waits 4 minutes. Then, the same happens again 4 minutes later. Any idea what might be going on?

Maybe this? http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=834&postid=4602#4602

I think it was just server overload. Appears to be working now.

Message 4904 - Posted: 20 May 2017, 10:37:18 UTC

Both my Raspberry Pi's are having problems getting new work even though the server status page indicates there are thousands of workunits ready to send. One system got a couple of tasks yesterday, but the other system did not get any tasks for 48 hours (lots of requests).

20-May-2017 12:32:17 [Enigma@Home] Reporting 1 completed tasks
20-May-2017 12:32:17 [Enigma@Home] Requesting new tasks for CPU
20-May-2017 12:32:19 [Enigma@Home] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
20-May-2017 12:32:19 [Enigma@Home] No tasks sent

Any clues ?

Message 4906 - Posted: 20 May 2017, 14:20:02 UTC - in response to Message 4904.

My guess is that all generated workunits (results ready to send) are for Enigma AV application, which is available only for windows. This even there is remaining workunits for "normal" application in m4_vroln72_5 batch.

I think work generator should be adjusted somehow to keep workunits available (ready to be sent) for all applications...

Does anyone know if the Enigma AV ever have a Linux version, and will it be 32-bit or 64-bit?

I haven't heard anything from TJM. However, v1.04 was Windows 32-bit only but v1.05 is 32 and 64-bit Windows. But, he is also using Microsoft Visual Basic, so that might not bode well for Linux, MacOS or Android.

Time will tell though as v1.05 was just released in the last day or so. I moved quite a few of my machines to other projects.

Enigma AV is written in C and is available with source code:

http://www.dxatlas.com/DxMath/Enigma/EnigmaSolution.src.zip

It should not be difficult to rebuild it for Linux, 32 and 64 bit.

I was never able to get unofficial clients working. It always fails, erases, and downloads the official one.

Some work for *nix machines would be nice. Who could do this porting, pretty please? We also need *nix version of wrapper, it is different than "old" application's one.

Ideal would be work available for all different applications simultanously.

Okey, got it working relatively easy. Added couple removed includes and uncommented stuff to inside #ifndef WINDOWS. Now just missing wrapper...

No Enigma AV CPU tasks are sent to my clients since 5:58 UTC today, even server status shows there to be tasks available. Something went broken from cuda changes?

Message 6242 - Posted: 15 Aug 2017, 11:15:47 UTC

I'm not sure what the cause may be, but I have not gotten any new work units since July 20th. I've been participating in Enigma since 2011 and have rarely had any issues. Just curious if there is something that can be done to start getting work units again.

Thnx in advance.

It looks like that this problem is back. There is no work as of this writing for either CPU or GPU.

Last I knew the project was hosted by two servers at two locations. But I don't mean redundant, part of the workflow is on the public server and part is on a remote backend. Perhaps the backend is having a problem.

Anyway, no work and no "tasks completed in the last hour" on the stats page for a couple days.

I hope our leader comes along pretty soon and fixes things.
