Message 801 - Posted: 3 Mar 2009, 8:26:26 UTC

I'm trying to join the project. I got the project master file. But when I try to get my first WU. All I get is:

3/3/2009 1:17:21 AM|Enigma@Home|Sending scheduler request: Project initialization. Requesting 1 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
3/3/2009 1:19:33 AM||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
3/3/2009 1:19:34 AM||Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
3/3/2009 1:19:36 AM|Enigma@Home|Scheduler request failed: Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)

What's up?

Hi Reokue,

I don't know the ins and outs, but I have found occaisionally(?) I get the same problem. It usually seems to iron out after about half an hour or so, but then I don't know whats going on with the server. Welcome to the project!!

I've had it running for 4 days straight with no work. I don't know what to do...

According to your Client Log http://www.enigmaathome.net/results.php?hostid=12073 , it seems that your receiving work, but detatching immediately for some reason.
It might be worth resetting the project, just to give it a fresh start if something went wrong the first time round. Seeing as you haven't been issued any credit yet, you won't lose anything by doing this.
I'm sure there are people on here that would be able to explain what's going wrong but if you can't solve it, try detaching and re attaching again.

That's weird. I've attached and detached several times with is why those tasks are recorded as detached. It seems that the server is sending me work yet my client isn't acknowledging it...

Well I looked at my tasks again and it seems that's the problem. My client is detaching itself from the project.

I thought it was a bit strange when it requested only 1 second of work. Maybe it is something to do with the boinc preferences. Other than that, I'm afraid I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe someone else on here could advise on this?

I think it does that when it's trying to initialize the project. I have a parallel thread on the BOINC forum. If they find a solution I will post it here.

Thanks.

I've just checked your host's database records and I didn't see anything unusual there, except one thing: it says that the host has connected to the server 0 times, which just can't be true.
Please detach from the project and tell me when you've done it, I'll delete the hostid 12073 from the db, perhaps the entry is bugged somehow.

Short downtimes are usually nothing to worry about, in most cases it's just the http reverse-proxy having temporary connection problems. The BOINC server itself is located in Poland, while the proxy is in USA, so all the traffic has to travel half of the world in both directions.

Ok, I've just removed your host from the database, could you try to reattach to see if that helped ?

Nope hasn't changed anything. :( Though I just attached I'll let it run for a while see if those previously mentioned things are affecting my new attachment.
